MIST Cluster Small Business Summit: February 7th, 2017

The Marine Industries Science & Technology (MIST) Cluster was pleased to present the Small Business Summit held at the Stennis Space Center in Building 1200 on February 7, 2017. This event focused on NASA and NASA contractors at the John C. Stennis Space Center in Hancock Co., MS and NASA Michoud in Louisiana. Attendees learned about programs and contracting opportunities. Gulf Coast Industry Lunch & Learn - Shipbuilding: November 1st, 2016


Where: Lyman Community Center, Gulfport, MS

Sponsored by the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Gulf Coast and the 
South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center, this event is open to any business that would like to learn about selling their goods & services to the various shipyards along the Gulf Coast. Representatives were available to meet and answer questions. These included:

The Marine Industries Science & Technology (MIST) Cluster was pleased to present the Small Business Summit held at the Stennis Space Center in Building 1200 on September 6, 2016. This event focused on the Commercial Companies at Stennis and larger contractors. Attendees learned about the programs and projects these companies have in the local area and beyond and the types of small companies they are looking for as strategic partners. Oceans in Action 2016: August 17th & 18th, 2016

The Marine Technology Society's Gulf Coast Section's annual Oceans in Action conference was expanded this year to a two day event and included an industry day sponsored by the MIST Cluster on the second day.

Keynote:  Rear Admiral Timothy C. Gallaudet, USN, Oceanographer and Navigator of the Navy; Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command. Other speakers and presenters included:


  • Dr. Herbert Eppert, Superintendent of the Naval Research Laboratory's Marine Geosciences Division
  • Helmut Portmann, Director, NOAA's National Data Buoy Center
  • Sharon Mesick; Chief, Coasts, Oceans & Geophysics Information Services and Coastal Data for NOAA's National Center for Environmental Information

2nd Annual Marine Industries Science & Technology Forum & Small Business Summit: August 5th, 2016 - New Orleans

Presentations and links from the MIST Cluster yearend review and a look ahead at the drivers and funding opportunities supporting the growth of the marine industries science and technology in the northern gulf coast region. Featured speaker was Mike Eckert, Chairman of the NO/LA Angel Network. Prior to becoming an Angel investor, Mike was on the launch team of The Weather Channel and served as its President and CEO.
